Nissan Tiida Review: Exterior, Interior, Engine & Performance, Price and More
The Nissan Tiida is a compact car manufactured by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd from 2004 to present. In Okinawan language, the name of the car “Tiida” means “Sun”.
Strengths:
- Affordably priced
- Spacious seats
- Terrific predicted reliability rating
- Tight turning radius
Weaknesses:
- Few safety features
- Low-rent cabin materials
The first generation began in 2004 and ended in 2012. The series is designated C11 and was available in two types: four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. This model stood between the compact and subcompact car segments. In some parts of South America, the car is called Dodge Trago; in North America, it is named Nissan Versa; and Southeast Asian countries, people call the sedan version by the name Nissan Latio.
The second generation started in 2011 and still continues until present. In this generation, the Tiida is only available as a five-door hatchback, known as C12 series. The C12 is built based on the C11, with an increased dimensions to occupy the compact class comfortably.
In 2015, Nissan launched the third generation Nissan Tiida, also known as Nissan Pulsar (C13). This generation continues until today and is sold mostly in Europe, China and Russia.
1. First Generation
The first generation was released in 2004 with the Tiida Latio sedan and Tiida hatchback. This generation is designed based on a stretched-wheelbase variant of the Nissan B platform. The engine options include a 1.5-liter diesel engine and 1.5-liter, 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter gasoline engines.
Facelifted versions of both the sedan and hatchback were introduced in January 2008. These versions came with some main changes including a new Plus navi HDD package named CarWing in Japan, powertrain enhancements, retuned power steering and new exterior features and interior designs.
The exterior features new headlights, taillights, a new grille, front bumper and new wheel covers. The interior sports a more modern look as well as better usability and visibility, new metallic-finish dash panels and an instrument cluster design.
Engine options include a 1.5-liter and 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, the bigger of which can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There are also two optional dealer packages: the Nismo Performance Package and Nismo S-tune Aero Package.
Engine:
1.5 L I4 (diesel)
1.5 L I4 (gasoline)
1.6 L I4 (gasoline)
1.8 L I4 (gasoline)
Transmission

2. Second Generation
The second generation debuted in April 2011 with the C12 series. It is offered only as a five-door hatchback, and sales is not available in Japan. The C11 Nissan Tiida sedan was instead replaced by the Nissan Sylphy (B17) and Nissan Latio (N17). In fact the C12 Tiida is heavily related to the Sylphy B17 - both share substantial mechanicals and base their construction on the Nissan V platform. The original Taiwanese and Chinese models feature an individual design; the Thai produced versions even share the Sylphy B17’s interior. Powertrains also remain common between the B17 and C12 models.
Instead of being marketed and sized as both a compact or subcompact car based on the country, the new, notable bigger Nissan Tiida was launched as a C-segment worldwide as the Latio and Micra/Marche took the place of the B-segment markets.
The second generation Tiida is fitted with the 188-HP turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol engine, with gasoline direct injection mated with a CVT.

3. Third Generation

Should I Buy A New Or Used Nissan Tiida?
The 2019 Nissan Tiida is available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which was not available in previous models. The new Tiida is already affordable to buy, but you can even save more money with a used Tiida as there were no big differences between the 2019 model and the previous models.
On used car market, a used Nissan Tiida has the price from $500 to $8,000 (FOB price). The price varies depending on model year, mileage, installed features and other conditions of the car. So you can base on these factors to find a suitable Tiida for your demand.
