Mercedes Benz B Class Review
1. Overview
The Mercedes Benz B Class is an executive Multi-purpose Vehicle manufactured by the famous German automaker Mercedes-Benz since 2005. The car is launched as a sports compact tourer. It shares many common things with the A-Class, though it has a bigger size with bigger engines. In Europe, the car is classified in the small MPV segment. As of December 20, 2013, the total number of B-class vehicles sold is 1 million since the first debut in 2015.
Strengths:
- Roomy inside
- Easy to drive
- Decent-sized cargo space
Weaknesses:
- Desirable options cost extra
- Sluggish 7-speed gearbox
- Noisy petrol engines
2. Exterior And Interior Design
The Mercedes Benz B Class has a smooth design which is a refreshing replacement to the usual crop of off-road styled SUVs. And the car has a pretty sporty look even in AMG-Line trim with lowered suspension. .
Compared to most small hatchbacks, the Mercedes B Class has a higher body, but it still looks pretty sleek, thanks to its neat curvy styling - you can be totally confident when parking it in a neighbourhood full of posh compact SUVs.
In terms of interior, the car has plenty of well-designed interior components and they look more futuristic than most competitors, but you have to pay more bucks to get a set of huge infotainment screens.
The car doesn’t look like a roomy car on the outside but its cabin feels significantly more spacious than the otherwise very similar A Class. The car provides you flatter seats with a bigger view from a larger windscreen and bigger windows. This makes it feel pretty airy inside and gives you an impressive view out over the road ahead.
The man made leather seats feature many good adjusted positions to help short driver’s see over the steering wheel, too. The steering wheel also offers enough adjustment to give you a clear view of screens. The back seats are very comfortable with enough legroom and headroom for even tall adults. There is not enough space for 03 adults in the back seats without rubbing shoulder either, but 03 kid can sit comfortably with room to spare. Also there is no trouble for you to fit a child seat in the back of the car.
3. Boot Space
The Mercedes B Class Benz is fitted with a 455-litre boot, which is only very slightly smaller than the boot of a BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. With this boot, you can carry a very bulky baby buggy or a few large suitcases.
There are also other versions with sliding rear seats, offering a 705-liter boot for you to carry more items.

The Mercedes Benz B Class is available in a wide range of petrol and diesel engines for customers to choose, all of which drive the front wheels through an automatic gearbox as standard.
The petrol engines are perfect to potter around town. But when you accelerate hard to overtake slow-moving traffic or join a motorway, they drone quite loudly.
If you often drive in long journeys, you should choose one of the diesel engines as they are more happy to cruise along at motorway speeds.
In terms of driving experience, the car’s large windows and raised seats give the driver and passengers a good view and an airy feeling. The steering is light and nice too, which means it is not too hard for you to squeeze it into a tiny parking space.
The suspension works very well to absorb most bumps around town but big potholes will still send a jolt through your seat. When driving on a faster country road, the car doesn’t lean a big deal in corners so your passengers will not have any reason to feel car sick on long road trips.
On highways, the Mercedes Benz B Class creates a bit of tyre and wind noise, but no more so than in the VW Golf SV and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. When you are cruising along, the car’s engines make very little noise - particularly in diesel form - that helps make it pretty relaxing to travel for long periods.
