TOYOTA ISIS ZGM10G
Buying Guide
The Toyota Isis is a seven-seat large MPV produced by Kanto Auto Works under contract for Japanese automaker Toyota. It is distributed in Japan and was launched in September 2004. It features sliding doors and is available with either front- or four-wheel drive and both straight-4 1.8- and 2.0-litre gasoline engines. It competes in Japan with the Honda Stream and the Nissan Lafesta.
The Isis uses a unique method to the sliding doors in that the front passenger door and the rear passenger sliding door interlock when closed, instead of having a door jamb that the doors attach to. Toyota names this on the Japanese Wikipedia article "Panoramic Door". This door system is used only for the passenger side. The doors on the driver's side are attached with a conventional door jamb. The front passenger seat can be folded flat upon itself and then tilted forward for further passenger access. The doors are also interlocked with the top and bottom door openings so that both doors can be opened independently of each other.

Toyota Isis: A Family Car With Best Value For Money
1. Overview
The Toyota Isis is almost as cavernous as the Toyota Estima and offers far more space on the last row compared to the Toyota Wish. Though its selling price is much closer to the Wish than the Estima. In general it’s a great family car, especially with Kids from all ages. The sliding door provides excellent access to the middle row. The AC is very nice even though there is no air outlet in the back. The big side mirrors make it very easy to keep an eye on the traffic around as well as the parking.
Driving this car feels easy; handling of the car is stable and firm. It’s a strong highway cruiser and makes long journeys enjoyable. Thanks to the reverse camera parking is a breeze. Not enough compartments to place small items e.g. CD’s, Sun glasses, phone etc. Since the spare tire is underneath the back of the car, the back end is nearer and lower to the concrete barriers in the car parks. Drivers have to be careful when parking sometimes.
2. Exterior Magnificence
The exterior of the Toyota ISIS features a fairly unique but minimalistic design language. The front end houses sharp upswept headlights, a rectangular angular chrome grille, dual rectangular air intakes and dual standard circular fog lights. The sides feature sliding doors.
The rear end houses top mounted slim narrow vertical stacked side swept taillights and a sticking-out bumper. The overall exterior of the Toyota ISIS feature familiar styling for a Toyota minivan that is able to compete amongst its rivals. Visually all four variants of the Toyota ISIS are identical in every angle.
3. Interior Comforts
The interior of the Toyota ISIS features a 7-seater layout arranged among three rows. The 7 seats are covered in beige fabric. Standard features include automatic climate control, power steering, power windows, power lock doors and a multifunction steering wheel. Features on the higher end G and L model includes leather upholstery, a power moonroof, reversing camera, heated front seats, electric front seats and cruise control.
It's big, enough space for 6 adults plus some space for luggage in the back. The two sliding doors, one of which is automatic, are very useful especially with kids in a narrow car park. While the NAVI selection also offers satellite navigation. The overall interior of the 1st Generation Toyota ISIS features a good amount of interior space and offers great practicality.
4. Operational Excellence & Performance
The very first variant of the Toyota Isis was powered by the 1.8 liters of diesel engine and mated with high performing specs such as the 2 liters direct injection system, automatic transmission and dimensions that measures conveniently around 4640 mm, 1710 mm and 1670 mm for the length, width and height respectively. Since it has a 1.8L engine, acceleration takes a bit longer or the gas pedal has to be pressed harder, which means higher fuel cost in city areas.
The performance parameters of the Toyota cars are very intricately and smartly constructed for the benefit of the environment as well as the end customers. The customers benefit in terms of the lower expenditure and fuel costs and the environment benefits in terms of the lower emissions that could negatively affect the environment. The features that collaborate for effective functioning and delivery of maximum performance includes: 1794 cc displacement, four cylinders, straight engine layout, 16 valves, balanced bore and compression ratio, petrol fuel injection, 170 torque delivery, speedy acceleration, auto transmission, four gears, 164 grams per kilometer CO2 emission and combined average mileage of 6.94 liters per 100 kilometers distance. Calculated fuel consumption of Toyota ISIS is about 30 mpg.
