Essential Things To Know Before Buying A BMW 1 Series For Sale
1. Overview
The BMW 1 Series is a subcompact car manufactured by the German automaker BMW since 2004. The car is well-known as the successor to the BMW 3 Series and is now in its second generation. The first generation (2004 - 2011) was produced in coupe, hatchback and convertible forms. The second generation (2011 - present) has been produced in hatchback and sedan (for Chinese market only) forms. In general, this car has a long list of fuel-efficient engines and is great fun to drive.
Strong points:
- Strong engines
- Low running cost
- Fun to drive
- High-quality interior
- Plenty of standard equipments
Weak points:
- Automatic gearbox is pricey
- Marmite styling
- Seats aren’t comfortable
2. Exterior
The car is slightly short in length and has less space between its front and rear wheels. But don’t start thinking there is less space inside for your passengers because there is much more headroom, legroom and elbow room and more space in the boot, too. As for the exterior design, it sports a substantially larger grille - although it is not quite on the same level as the X7 and 7 Series grilles. On the side of the car, you can see a traditional low forward bend at the back, which BMW calls the “Hofmeister kink”.
3. Interior
The BMW 1 Series is equipped with high-quality interior. The car offers lots of color and trim options for buyers to choose. It has got BMW’s iDrive infotainment system - which is known as the best in its class. Its sensible layout and clear menus make it very easy to use, particularly in conjunction with the central control knob that is easier to use than a competing touchscreen.
All the seats are fine but if you are a big adult, the rear seats will be a bit cramped for you.
In terms of cargo space, the BMW 1 Series owns a decent cargo space. Also the rear seats can be folded, providing more space to carrying items.
4. Engine And Performance
The first generation was available in 3 engine types: 4-CL diesel, 4-CL and 6-CL petrol, in both turbocharged and naturally aspirated forms.
The second generation was offered with 4-CL petrol, 4-CL diesel and 6-CL petrol engines. In 2015, 3-CL diesel and petrol engines were implemented to the line up. All engines are turbocharged.
The BMW 1 Series is the only car in its sector to mate with rear-wheel drive - the same as an F1 car offers - so there is no surprise that the car is very dynamics, especially fun when it corners.
5. BMW 1 Series Price
A new BMW 1 Series costs from $31,000. On used car market, the price of a BMW 1 Series for sale is varying from $2,000 to $28,000 depending on model year, mileage and other conditions of the car. So you can based on this price range to pick used BMW 1 Series stuitable for your needs and your budget.
