Its steering effort at low speeds is overly light but feels appropriately weighted and precise when the Audi A3 is driven with less attention. Its athleticism is amplified with the larger summer tires, which deliver more cornering grip and sharper reactions to driver inputs.

6. Safety Technology

Most of the advanced and active safety equipment is optional. It’s relieved to see automatic lights and wipers standardised across the range, along with cruise control and a suite of stability and braking aids.

Pre-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, hill-hold assist, blind-spot warning, automated parking and much more are all optional, and in many cases costly.
