Steering Wheel Airbag
The definition
To know how to remove airbag from steering wheel, acknowledging the definition of the airbag is essential. The airbag is an empty bag installed inside the steering wheel that protects drivers when accidents occur. With the combination of a cylinder filled with gas, an airbag pack, and steel housing along with the vinyl airbag cover, we made a driverâs airbag. With this system, when the airbag module receives a signal, the igniter switch starts a chemical reaction immediately. This reaction triggers the airbag in fractions of a second. This airbag will cover the drivers and stay between the drivers and the in-front car components, protecting them from any direct contact.Â
Different types of airbags
You might have noticed that there are various types of steering wheel airbags. However, there are four most common types: Single stage, dual-stage, 4-spoke, and 3-spoke.Â
While the single stage-airbag has a connector, also called a single plug, a dual-stage possesses two plugs along with four wires, which leads to a single connector. Along with that, we cannot forget about two side airbags: four-spoke and three-spoke. Â
The importance of airbags
With technology nowadays, all new cars have airbags, and they are amazingly useful. According to the BBC, passenger airbags reduce deaths by nearly 11 percent, while driverâs airbags reduce driverâs death by 14 percent. Along with safety belts, airbags are essential for car owners. They work together as a safety system and boost each other effectively.Â
Purpose of Airbag in Steering Wheel
These Airbags like soft cushions in the steering wheel are a part of the carâs airbag control system, which activates and inflates along with other airbags in the vehicle during its collision. Thus, it protects the driver from any major injury. However, sometimes the removal of the airbag is essential even before it is used because of its malfunctioning and sudden activation. Otherwise, it can cause blindness while driving, and this can be even more dangerous.
