1999 SUBARU SAMBAR DIAS WAGON GD-TW1 2WD
This is our company owner's private car! Believe it or not, this vehicle was maintained by engineers from Subaru's Gunma factory, and as the description and video state, its mechanical condition is exceptionally good. Although it is 25 years old, it was used for commuting and for overnight stays in the car (car-camping). Regarding the maintenance history: The cause of the coolant leak was a hole in the rear heater hose, so it was replaced with a new one. At that time, the engine head was first opened to check for warpage. Since there was no issue, a top-end overhaul (O/H) was performed, which included replacing the head gasket and other gaskets, cleaning the inside of the head, valve lapping, and tappet adjustment. The engine noise has quieted down and it revs up smoothly to high RPMs. The clogged water line on the No. 4 cylinder side was also resolved at that time. All other parts of the cooling system were checked. The water pump looked clean, as it appeared to have been replaced along with the timing belt. The heater core and the central pipe were also problem-free. The radiator had no issues, but it was replaced with a new one, including the upper and lower hoses. Also, the thermostat, which has never failed before, was replaced. Other maintenance includes replacing the battery with a new one, changing the engine oil, and fixing a vibration at idle by replacing the spark plug wires with those from a different model year Sambar. Please replace it if you are concerned. Ultimately, I only drove it about 1,000 km to check its condition and maintain it. Rust on the frame, a common issue for the Sambar, is not a problem here. It seems the previous owner in Tokyo took very good care of it.
