Buying Guide
The Mazda Atenza (known as Mazda 6) is an excellent mid-size family car, owning a chiseled body and pretty cabin which could be confused with those of more luxury cars. The car offers a driving experience like that of expensive sports car, thanks to its fantastic chassis. In general, the car is an extraordinary combination of unsurpassed dynamics and upscale ambience that is astonishingly affordable. The car is also available in a wide range of higher trim levels so that buyers can get the features that they really want. When compared the Atenza with other competitors in the same segment, it is not the thriftiest, quickest or tech-savviest. But the outstanding car surpasses the numbers and is rated as one of the best “mid-size family cars”.
Sounds quite interesting, right? So if you are going to buy a Mazda Atenza for sale or simply want to know more about this awesome car, let’s take a closer look at the complete review below:
Mazda Atenza Review: All You Need to Know
1. Mazda Atenza Overview
Strength:
- Classy interior look and feel
- Excellent driving dynamics
- Nice exterior design
Weakness:
- Lacks legroom and headroom for tall adults
- No hybrid or plug-in versions
- Top turbo engine lacks real verve
The first generation Mazda Atenza (2002 - 2008) is available in a wide range of model lineups, including: a four-door hatchback, a four-door sedan, a five-door wagon, sport wagon, sport sedan, … The second generation (2007 - 2012) includes 4 three body styles: four-door saloon (sedan), five-door hatchback, and wagon. The third generation (2012-2016) is available in only 2 body styles: 4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon.
2. Mazda Atenza Exterior
For exterior design, Mazda gave to the Atenza a sporty styling with sharp edges and a sculpture rolling from facade towards the headlamp and up to the front wheel. The length of front extension is cut a bit to support the sporty performance of the car. The LED lights are used to decorate the polished surfaces, showing the high sense of fashion technique that Mazda Atenza received.
3. Mazda Atenza Interior
There is a big surprise when you get into the car. Everything inside seems to belong to a more expensive car. The mixture of high-quality materials, mature design and restrained detailing makes the interior of the car so impressive. Although there are some small annoyances with the way some interior controls operate, the cabin is still luxury and best in the segment.
The quality of the dash itself is really nice. The entertainment system has a nice feel with a touch screen which is beautiful and easy to use. In this car, you’ve got analog, rev counter but the speedo is digital. The steering wheel is perfect with a lot of supportments for the driver. Other equipment include: power windows and locks, adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, tire pressure monitoring, IP display, moon rood, cruise control, climate control, ….
The car can carry up to 5 people. However, the only problem here is that it lacks a bit of legroom and headroom for tall passengers.
4. Mazda Atenza Cargo Space
The Mazda Atenza has a very practical trunk. The 6 carry-on bags can be fitted in the trunk. Moreover, the number will increase to 17 bags when we fit in the trunk and interior with the rear seats folded.
5. Mazda Atenza Engine And Performance
The base engine of Mazda is quicker than other rival’s base engines. It offers great handling that the whole family can enjoy. The car also has above-average driving satisfaction with a fluidity to its handling and controls that is uncommon at any price range. Furthermore, the car does provide the thrills without sacrificing ride quality and refinement. There are some small downsides in terms of performance but at this price, the Mazda Atenza is still the most fun-to-drive car.

7. Mazda Atenza Price
On used car market, a Mazda Atenza for sale has the price from $2,000 to $19,000 depending on model year, mileage as well as other conditions of the car. To buy a used Mazda Atenza at the best price, the best way is making a purchase with reliable dealers as they can sell you a good car at a reasonable price. If you buy a car from bad dealer, you may get a low-quality car at a high price and still have to pay a lot of money to repair the car after that.
