Well everyone wants to be a winner. Who wouldn't want something free? A car given to them that you don't have to buy and pay for out of your own pocket.

Public transportation meaning bus services and taxi services. Although those services are available a person wants their own privacy.
On the Island of Grand Bahama where I live the settlements are scattered. I live in the Western end of the Island so for me to travel to Freeport that is 17 miles away. Using the bus services one way travel is five dollars and so round trip is ten dollars . If I travel for five days the cost is fifty dollars per week.
Cars from Japan are economical when it comes to gas.Gas prices in the Bahamas goes up and down but most of the time gas prices are over four dollars per gallon. But if I own and drive my own Japanese car this could lower the cost of travelling for me. Most of the Japanese car engines are about I'm estimating four cylinder in size. So a person will not be spending too much money to fill the car with gas. Because of this I could get more mileage for my money. I could travel to more settlements on the Island and pay less money for gas. That should be the way to travel.
A Japanese car can be a real asset to me and for many good reasons. Allow me please to explain.
Presently I don't drive a car of my own. So getting from one location to the next can be a hassle sometimes i I'm not a passenger in someone elses car, bus or taxi. Sometimes I walk long distances. At times this is not safe and sometimes this walking disturbs me. However I focus on the benefits of walking and that keeps me thinking positive. I haved prayed that one day I could have a car of my own and I have prayed many times while walking.

One of my friends and I were talking at the end of July. She drives a Japanese cars that is about seventeen years old. She said that if she had to buy another car again she would buy Japanese. She prizes her car because of how clean the interior was when she received her car. The car seats look brand new. All features inside her car worked. Last year the windshied got a small crack because of the damages from Hurricane Matthew that struck the Bahamas. The only downside to Japanese used cars were waiting when you ordered car parts for repairs. Other than that her car is pretty reliable.
When I talk to persons who are driving Japanese used cars they are not complaining or have regrets. They are proud of their cars.
Yes the Japanese dealers put extra care into the cars they sell. The paint color is crisp and gloossy and not faded. The tires are in tip top shape. The engine and whatever else is under the car hood is clean. In other words from the exterior to the interior it's clean. That's impressive and attractive to a perspective buyer.
The dealers and the workers are honest when the Japanese cars are presented and shown to persons. Because person know upfront exactly what they are buying nothing is hidden people appreciate ths kind of honest. So at the end of the day you would know that you didn't buy a 'lemon' as the expression goes.
