Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in this competition. I am a great admirer of Japanese vehicles. So far I have bought two Japanese made vehicles which includes a Toyota Hiace Bus. From my experience Japanese vehicles are tough, durable and have a high performance versatility which suits the harsh and different geographical conditions of Papua New Guinea which includes mountains, fast flowing rivers, rough terrains, rough roads. 85% of the country's population live in rural settings therefore, transport to these locations are very rare and difficult to reach because there are less good roads which lead to these areas. In the post colonial days, Japanese vehicles such Land cruisers have always played a major role in reaching out these areas in terms of delivering much needed services to the rural people. Even today, Japanese vehicles continue to penetrate the difficult terrains which other modern brands of vehicles can not reach.
In terms of capacity, Japanese vehicles no doubt provide transportation of goods, whether small or large to the vast populations that are accessible by roads and bridges. PNG has some of the roughest and toughest highways in the world which requires transport, once again and no doubt Japanese vehicles continue to enable big trucks to move huge cargoes such as different tonnes of container goods and also enable people of all ages to migrate from one town to another. Even so the road conditions of these highways are unpredictable in a sense that the conditions are so bad ordinary vehicles cannot travel through them. This means that different services are not met which affect the daily lives of people whereas Japanese vehicles continue to assist where these harsh conditions become a huge hindrance.
In terms of safety and comfort, Japanese vehicles are the most safe to drive around which does not compromise the safety of drivers and passengers. The vehicles are very comfortable and travelling passengers are well relaxed and enjoy every ride even in rough road conditions. As a matter of importance, safety in any type of transport is a priority and Japanese vehicles ensure that seat belts and other safety measures are put in place in every car. The drivers feel relaxed also even driving for long hours along long distances and reach destinations on schedule time because of speed and engine mobility and strength. Fuel consumption is also another key element for considering Japanese vehicles which is very cost saving. Travelling distances needs plenty of fuel and that's these vehicles cater for, low fuel costs and maintenance.

Japanese vehicles are known for their speed which makes travelling to destinations quicker and faster. These brand of vehicles are also long lasting as long as they are regularly serviced and well looked after. Vehicles parts are also readily available to replace parts that need replacement when required which rarely happens. The vehicles can also be easily re-conditioned to save money on buying new vehicles which many PNG citizens can not afford to do. With the current economic situation, people just can't afford to buy other vehicle models because they are expensive and yet not roadworthy, whereas Japanese vehicles are roadworthy and economically sustainable.
Statistics in PNG show that there are more Japanese cars in the country compared to other models sold by other car manufacturers and dealers. This shows that the demand for Japanese brands and models remains to be high. For example, when you travel in the Port Moresby city roads, most of the models of cars that you see are Japanese car brands and models which again indicates the high demand for these vehicles. Competitively, Japanese vehicles can only be described as the best brands that clearly suit the geographical conditions of this country and evidence also show that its the brand of vehicles that are very commonly preferred by the majority of the general population in this country.
I have conducted a verbal survey interview with several work colleagues who own Japanese vehicles on why they purchased Japanese vehicles and many of them said that they have 100% trust on the brands because they are cheap, low cost savings on fuel and maintenance, more economical roadworthy and easily serviceable with availability of appropriate car parts available in different towns in the country. They have also said, they are more safe and comfortable to drive around with huge spaces for extra passengers and cargo storage. The vehicles are also strong to drive in rough road conditions and don't easily get damaged when involved in minor road accidents and human life savings as well. With the increase in population growth in the country, the demand for accessing different services is also growing which means that more roads into the majority of provinces, districts and local level government wards are expanding hence, more vehicles are being purchased by governments to ensure basic government services reach eighty-five (85% of the rural populations which live in rural areas of the country which are accessible by roads. Evidence clearly show that most of the vehicles that being purchased by different government agencies are Japanese made vehicles as a result of their quality, in terms of economical advantages and value for money. For example in the organisation I am working for all our office vehicles are Japanese made, no other models and brands. This is because it is now like a norm or practice that government agencies are so used to in terms of saving costs and getting quality products that are value for money. There is no doubt these vehicles will continue to play a huge role in bringing development to this nation and as well as improving the lives of the 8 million people of this country as well as in different levels of communities of this developing nation. Not only that, the country of Japan has been always been a major key player in the development of this country over many decades and it is only fair that we show our appreciation through this business.
